The benefits of Traditional Thai Massage

Traditional Thai Massage (Nuad Thai) is one of the oldest forms of bodywork in Asia, with roots stretching back more than 2,500 years. Unlike Western-style massage, it uses no oil, and the client stays dressed throughout the session, in comfortable clothing provided on site.

The therapist uses palms, thumbs, elbows and sometimes knees to apply pressure along traditional energy lines, called Sen. The movements are combined with assisted stretching, similar to passive yoga — the body is moved by the therapist, with no effort required from the client.

Commonly reported benefits include deep muscle relaxation, improved joint flexibility, and relief from tension built up through posture or stress. For anyone who spends hours at a desk, assisted stretching can restore a range of motion that everyday movement no longer calls on.

It's a good choice for those who want an energising session rather than a purely relaxing one, and for anyone focused on flexibility rather than passive relaxation. It isn't recommended, without adaptation, for people with recent fractures or severe cardiovascular conditions — at Touch of Thailand, therapists always adapt pressure to each client's condition.

At Touch of Thailand, every therapist is trained in authentic traditional techniques, passed down directly from Thailand — not a version adapted for Western expectations.
